"Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever."
(1Pet. 1:23)
"No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon."
(Matt. 6:24)

Who is Jesus the

Man?

Part 2

“…God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” Acts10:38

For three and a half years Jesus as a Man served men powerfully, healing diseases, casting out evil spirits, raising dead people to life, walking on water, feeding thousands with a few loaves of bread, making people free and teaching men about the kingdom of God.

His testimony was this, “Most assuredly I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.” John 5:19

GOD WAS WITH JESUS!

However this was not all of God’s purpose for Jesus. He came to die according to God’s will and plan.

“Him [Jesus], being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified and put to death.” Acts 2:23

Jesus had told His disciples during His time of ministry that He must be killed

“The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.” Luke 9:22

“Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be accomplished. For He will be delivered to the Gentiles and will be mocked and insulted and spit upon. They will scourge and kill Him. And the third day He will rise again.” Luke18:31-33

He was betrayed by one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, according to the Scriptures

“Assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me…He who dipped his hand with Me in the dish will betray Me…Then Judas…said, ‘Is it I?’ He said to him, ‘You have said it.’” Matthew 26:21-25

His disciples deserted Him according to the Scriptures

“All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: ‘I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’ But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee.” Matthew 26:31-32

“Then all His disciples forsook Him and fled.” Matthew 26:56

Jesus predicted Peter’s

 denial of Him

“Peter answered and said to Him, ‘Even if all are made to stumble because of You, I will never be made to stumble.’ Jesus said to Him, ‘Assuredly, I say to you this night, before the rooster crows you will deny Me three times.’” Matthew 26:33-34

On the night before Jesus was killed He prayed and humbled Himself to do God’s will

“Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours be done.” Luke 22:42

“And being found in appearance as a Man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death, even the death of the Cross.” Philippians 2:8

JESUS DID NOT HAVE TO DIE BUT HE HUMBLED HIMSELF TO FOLLOW GOD’S PLAN

Jesus was arrested and only recognized by the sign

 of Judas kissing Him

“Now His betrayer had given them a sign, saying, ‘Whomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him.’” Matthew 26:48

“He has no stately form or splendour; and when we see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him. He is despised and rejected by men, a MAN of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid as it were our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.” Isaiah 53:2-3

HE WAS A MAN OF NO SPECIAL APPEARANCE OR MAJESTY

HE WAS REJECTED

WE HID FROM HIM

He was brought before the chief priests, the elders, and scribes of Israel. He was interrogated as to His identity and words as they looked for reason to kill Him

“Now the chief priests, the elders and the council sought false testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, but found none…” Matthew 26:59

After some men were found, Jesus was questioned but remained silent Matthew 26:63

Jesus testified to being the Christ before the High Priest, a Jew

“And the high priest answered and said to Him, ‘I put You under oath by the Living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!’ Jesus said to him, ‘It is as you said. Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.” Matthew 26:63

Jesus testified before Pilate,

a Gentile Governor,

that He was a king

“Jesus answered, ‘My kingdom is not of this world…You say rightly that I am a king.” John18:33-37

JESUS TESTIFIED BEFORE THE JEWS AND GENTILES THAT HE WAS THE CHRIST, THE KING

A notorious prisoner was released instead of Jesus and Jesus was scourged and chosen to be crucified Matthew 27:15-26

Soldiers mocked Him, stripped Him, put a robe on Him, twisted a crown of thorns on His head, put a reed in His hand, spat on Him, struck him with the reed and mockingly worshipped Him as the King. Matthew 27:27-31

While on the Cross He was reviled and blasphemed Matthew 27:38-44

JESUS WAS CRUCIFIED

“My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” Matthew 27:26

JESUS CRIED OUT

“And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His Spirit.” Matthew 27:50

JESUS DIED
