Who is Jesus the

Man?

Part 1

“Jesus of Nazareth, a Man…” Acts 2:22

Jesus was born of a Woman

“Now the birth of Jesus was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with Child of the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 1:18

“But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman.” Galatians 4:4

JESUS WAS A FLESH AND BLOOD MAN BORN OF A WOMAN

This Man was conceived by the Holy Spirit!

“…an angel of the Lord appeared to him (Joseph) in a dream, saying, “…that which is conceived [begotten] in her is of the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 1:20

His name will be called

JESUS

“And she (Mary) will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21

The name “Jesus” means He is the Saviour. It is literally “YAHWEH (the name of God revealed to Moses in the Old Testament) is Salvation”

JESUS IS GOD SAVING US!

Jesus is the fulfilment of prophecy

“So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, ‘Behold, the virgin shall be with Child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel.’ Which is translated ‘God with us’ Matthew 1:22-23

JESUS IS GOD WITH US!

Jesus was born in Bethlehem to be a ruler according to prophecy

“In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet: ‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judea, are not the least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you shall come a Ruler who will Shepherd My people Israel.’”

Matthew 2:5-6

As a Child Jesus was worshipped!

“And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshipped Him.” Matthew 2:11

As a Child God protected Him and He escaped death at the

hands of a king

“…an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream saying, ‘Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.’” Matthew 2:13

After Herod died, an angel told Joseph to go back to Israel and Jesus grew up in a family in a place called Nazareth

“And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth…” Matthew 2:23

Jesus grew as a boy in a family

“And the Child grew and became strong

in spirit, filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon Him.” Luke 2:40

At 12 years of age Jesus began to seek for His Father and people were amazed at Him

“And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers.” Luke2:47

When questioned by Mary and Joseph about what He was doing, Jesus responded…

“Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?” Luke 2:29

Jesus continued to grow as a Man and was submitted to Joseph and His mother

“…and was subject to them…And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and men.” Luke 2:51-52

At 30 years of age He came for baptism at the River Jordan and the heavens were opened to Him!

“When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My Beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:16-17

JESUS WAS NO ORDINARY MAN, FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE ADAM WAS MADE BEFORE HE SINNED, THE HEAVENS WERE

OPENED TO A MAN!

He was then led by the Spirit into the wilderness and tempted by the devil for forty days and He overcame each temptation Matthew 4:1-11

THERE WAS NOW A MAN IN THE EARTH WHO HAD VICTORY OVER THE DEVIL!

He came out of the wilderness in the POWER of the SPIRIT!

“Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit…” Luke 4:14

He taught with authority

“And they were astonished at His teaching, for His Word was with authority.” Luke 4:32

He had authority over evil spirits

“For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.” Luke 4:36

He had authority to heal the sick

“…and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.” Matthew 4:23

The apostle Peter testified of Him:

“God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” Acts 10:38

· Jesus was a Man who was born of a woman and conceived by the Holy Spirit,

· He came to fulfill prophecy

· He is God saving us

· He is God with us

· The heavens were open to Him

· He had victory over the devil and complete authority in the earth

This is Jesus the Man
